Will self tanning prevent sunburn?

by Austin
(Kansas)

Question: During spring break time, I tend to get very burnt up and form skin rashes from the intense UV rays in Mexico. Will self tanning prepare me for burning up less? As long as sunscreen is still used.

Answer: The only way that self tanning will prevent burning is that it will give you a feeling that you don't have to hang out in the sun as much because you already have a "tan".

It has been proven that people who regularly spray tan are much more likely to slowly build up their tan by spending only short time in the sun.

Please remember to wear sunscreen as without it your skin is totally unprotected to the rays of the sun.
