Tanning Oil and Spray Tan

by Sarah
(Dallas,Tx)

Question: The man at the salon had told me sunbathing with a spray tan would only enhance it, however, from what I've read and gathered, tanning with oil would make my tan rub off easily. I want to lay out at the pool because the weather is so nice. So can u use oil? I know not to get in the pool, but I don't want to lay out there dry!

Answer: Use SPF15+ lotion instead of oil and don't spend a lot of your time in the sun (max 30 minutes early in the morning or late in the afternoon), because even though your skin is brown, it is totally unprotected. If you overdo it, you will burn and peel and that will be the end of your spray tan.
