Spray tan making me warm

by Sarah
(US)

Question: Spray tan makes me warm (skin is warm and I feel hot), like I can't cool off. This only last for about a day and a half. Why?

Answer: That is a new one, for me I usually freeze my butt off when the spray tan hits my skin.

I am thinking that you might actually have an allergic reaction to the component in the spray tanning solution and that might not be all that good.

Try different solution to see if that might help, but if you are allergic to something like DHA which is in all the solutions than you might have to talk to a doctor about your experience since it would be a worry if it was cumulative.

Self Tan feels suffocating
by: laurel

Even after showering I felt like the self tanner was suffocating mt skin. I got up from the bed and had to scrub my skin with a cold cloth.

Answer: You might have experienced an allergic reaction. There are many ingredients in spray tanning solutions and only about 10% have ever been tested, so an allergic reaction is very probable.
If you still want to spray tan in the future, go for a different solution and have a test patch don e.

I also feel warm all over
by: Anonymous

I have the same reaction. I was just searching the net looking up reactions to spray tan. I feel very warm but I know its just the chemicals reacting while the tan develops. I dont feel sick and this feeling will be gone tomorrow. Thanks for this site and the comments

My skin is very warm after I spray tan
by: Anonymous

I don't remember how long I have felt like that because I have been spray tanning for 5 years but my boyfriend of three year has always said I feel really warm even when everyone else in the house is cold. I had another guy tell me this too. It's not a fever because I feel fine and it only last 24 hours after I shower my spray tan off and bath again then my skin is not hot and he doesn't say my body is super warm for no reason & I do not sweat in my sleep after the second shower. The only other explanation I came up with besides the mention of an allergic reaction is my pores are being clogged by the spray tan which makes me feel warm in my legs, arms, stomach and really in my face. Btw I do the Versa spa. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. If it was an allergic reaction after 5 years wouldn't something bad be happing to my body that I could see or feel. I have no rashes or itchy spots on my body.

It seems to be skin irritation, if you are not getting any other side effects than it probably is just the way your skin processes those chemicals.
I have seen skin react like that even to aloe vera, which normally is very beneficial to the skin. Each skin is different and yours just reacts this way to the solution.

Helped make up my mind with good info
by: Eileen

Great to hear some one else has same experience was considering having spray tan ,however when I just use self tanners on my face or arms I feel like my skin cant breath and I feel extremely hot, and I live in the sub tropics Its not worth the uncomfortableness,Thanks for the feedback

Boshena's comment: Yes, if you are having such a reaction just from applying self tanner to your face and arms, it probably would be much worse if you spray tanned your whole body.
I think pale and interesting is a way to go :-)
