REMOVING SPRAY TAN OFF HANDS.

Question: HOW DO I GET THE SPRAY TAN OFF MY HANDS?

Answer: Different things that you can try: lemon, hydrogen peroxide, bleach and pumice stone. That should get the most of it off, but sometimes you just have to wait for the rest of the color to wear off if there is a lot of it.
I have a lot of info on my site about removing spray tan off your body, including your hands. Just click on "after spray tan" button on the left, and you will find it.

The best way of course is to never get it on your hands in the first place. Wear latex gloves next time if this is the problem.
If you get airbrush spray tan the technician usually avoids your hands, but in the booth you might get some color on your hands if you do not wear gloves.
Wear gloves, and if you want some color on the top of your hands then, after taking off your shower cap (make sure you hook your hand on the inside of the shower cap to avoid grabbing it and getting solution on your palms), rub the solution that has beaded on the outside of the shower cap onto your hands.

This Works!
by: Anonymous

Use the kitchen cleaner,Softscrub and the scrubby side of a kitchen sponge. Two or three times, and you're good to go.

This Really Works!
by: Anonymous

This worked brilliantly. Despite the "Blocking Creme," my hands and feet came out Oompah Loompah orange! I used a facial exfoliator on my hands in the morning, in the shower, to no avail. Tonight, I used a fresh lemon and sugar paste, my foot exfoliator stick on my knuckles and bleach on a cotton ball after all that. It stung in places, but the good news is, my hands now look normal. Also, my hands look five years younger! Got all the dead skin off them. To top it all off, I put very heavy cream on after I was done. Thanks everyone for the tips! :)

help !!
by: chelsea

My finger tips are so dark from having a spray tan how can I prevent this and get rid of the stain .. Please help x

Boshena's comment: Pumice is probably the best in this situation, however, you probably will not be able to get rid of all of the color.

To avoid this problem, invest in Nail Savers and it will save you a lot of grief in the future

Use comet!

Use a scrub and use comet cleaner like you would for your sink. I removed mine within 10 minutes of scrubbing. Worked very well.

wash your hands and feet
by: Anonymous

Making sure to wash your hands and feet as soon as you get home after your spray tan works perfect. And after you rub your lotion on. Wash hands againp. Your hands will not stain. And even wiping off your face. give you some color but does not get dark.

I suggest wiping your palms with wet towelettes as soon as you finish spray tanning, because yellow palms look really bad.

Tan
by: Anonymous

Thank you so much for this info. Lemon works a treat,am going to the beach tomorrow...brown sprayed hands hmmmm defintely a giveaway to my spray tan! Next time i will be using a glove for sure! But for some reason i just like to use my hands!

Get the very thin latex gloves, they work really well and you can feel your skin really well through them.In fact they work better than just bare hands.

Thank you!!
by: Dawn

I have a wedding to go to tonight and I'm in it. The bride picked knee length dresses which is fine but we live in CO and right now I am white!!! So I did a spray tan last night. It was fine, the color is great but... the tan that was left ran to my heels. The problem??? we are wearing flip flops as part of the reception outfit with our dresses. I was reading your remedies and saw bleach worked well. I didn't have bleach but I did have Oxi-max prestain treater. SOOOO I put some on a rag and poured some peroxide on there as well and scrubbed. I used the pumice stone only on the tough parts and to my surprise the stains are gone! my feet since they will be highlighted are ready for their night! Thank you so much!!!!

You are very welcome. I know that fixing spray tanning problems will not change the world, but it sure can make your day a lot better, eh?

Orange Homecoming Queen
by: Anonymous

This so helpful. I was the 2010-11 Homecoming queen. I have to crown this year's queen and I was hoping to get just a little color, well, my hands and elbows were nasty looking. I used the bleach. It did great! Thank you so much for this advice. You were a lifesaver to me tonight! Thank you!

You are very welcome, I am glad I could help with such an important occasion. Just the thought of having to crown a new Homecoming queen with stained hands makes me feel slightly faint as I can imagine that the photos of this moment will be hanging around forever...

Spray Tanning
by: Anonymous

Boshena this page is FABULOUS - using the bleach helped "walk me off the ledge" this morning when I saw my hands were orange. Regarding your comments to Brittany about what she'll know to do next time - for me...THERE WILL NEVER BE A NEXT TIME. Spray tanning SUCKS!!
Tried to stray from the bulbs - I've used booths/bulbs for years - and what a HORRIBLE experience....never again!

Boshena's comment: Well, as everything out there, there are people that love spray tanning and others that don't. It is a personal preference.
For myself, being a bit older and having seen on my own skin what UV rays do to your skin, I am definitely choosing spray tan, even though it might not turn out perfect every time.

Believe me, mature skin age comes around much sooner than you've expected and then you have to pay consequences for the rest of your life. Not pretty, and can be very expensive as well to reverse it....

Thank you
by: Brittany

I tried bleach but it didn't work on the dark spots, so I tried lemon and the peroxide and it took off the dark spots that were on my nuckles and toes. It sucks that you don't realize until 12 hours after tanning. This truly helped!!

Boshena's comment: Yes, it does suck LOL. But next time you will know thats where your problems are and you will remember to put some barrier cream on those, won't you?

Thank you so much for your help! I did have some discoloration on my hands due to a spray tan. I tried using bleach, and it did not come off completely, but it looks considerably better. Thanks again!

I need new ways
by: Anonymous

My hands r soo dark and I can't get it off I've used lemon juice bleach and bringer none of those reasons work is there anything else that will work

Boshena's comment: If bleach does not shift it, than not much will. You can try pumice stone, but if the color lodged too deep, you will not be able to take it off without scratching your skin off as well.

It is a lot easier to prevent it than fix it. Please wear latex glover when you spray tan next time
