How does spray tanning work?

Question: do you go into a booth when airbrush tanning or does someone do it for you? or how exactly does it work?

Answer: There are two different ways of getting a spray tan. One is in an automatic booth where you are given directions and left alone in a room, the other with a hand held gun. You strip to your swimmers, thong or go nude and a technician sprays you down with solution.
