Can I dilute a spray tan solution?

by Charisse
(Ithaca, NY)

Question: I have a spray tan solution that is 12% and I never use it. Mainly I use a 9% because I like the natural look of the lightest solutions on my clients. I have read that you can dilute a solution with water. Any suggestions or advice on how to do this?

Answer: I have never done it myself, but I have made some enquiries with people that are in the business of HVLP tanning. They say (although they never done it either) that 1/4 of water to 3/4 of spray tanning solution will lower DHA percentage by 2%.
If you are game to try it, I would first practice it on a family memeber that is pretty understanding rather than on a client.
